Folks, and by folks I mean you misguided liberals out there......I will admit, the man is not a speech giver....nevertheless, can you remember the last president that was under such circumstances that allowed himself to be Bar-B-Que'd on international television???
Hs speech was signed, sealed, and delivered as per administration policy....BUT....this president did not agree to relay his views and reasonings to the American people via the Oval Office....NO.....he submitted himself to an open Press Conference made viewable to the entire world.
..and no...the press didnt take it easy on him...
My apologies folks, I have been taking care of a sickly pre-teen, cleaning house, and *gasp* cooking so I have been unable to pay the kind of attention to my weblog that my readers (all 2 of you) deserve....Please forgive me, let me get my ducks in a row and I will deliberate your well placed responses to my challenge....thank you.
President Bush showed incredible poise in his recent press conference. He didnt shy from the tough questions....au contraire, he put himself on the proverbial grill hotter than any recent American president seen previously on hot sizziling shows such as the Iron Chef....I like my president a little less well done.....Capice??
There has been an ongoing joke about this presidents level of intelligence...I have laughed at several of the jokes myself....BUT my president's poise during this unprecidented international questioning has forever driven my faith in his CONVICTION even further into my foundation of consciousness than he has already been residing.
I will happily debate, with you liberals, any details or contents of which were expressed during tonights presidential press conference......shall the debate begin???
You call it conviction. I call it shamelessness...
Anyway, Bush has been press-conference-shy since taking office: how many has he given? I don't remember any others given during prime-time viewing, but I heard a news report today saying tonight was his third prime-time conference. I guess if he never tied his own shoes in his first three years in office it would seem like some kind of big deal if he stooped to tie them now... I would say he truly is "the master of lowered expectations".
My favorite question from tonight was this one: "One of the biggest criticisms of you is that whether it's WMD in Iraq, postwar planning in Iraq, or even the question of whether this administration did enough to ward off 9-11, you never admit a mistake. Is that a fair criticism, and do you believe that there were any errors in judgment that you made related to any of those topics I brought up?"....
That's been one that's been on my mind virtually since day one. Is Bush ever willing to admit a mistake, and change course when it is called for?
His long and evasive answer to this simple question told me that the answer is a resounding "no." Think of the impact it would have had if Bush had simply said, "yes, I've made some mistakes, and I'm doing my very best to learn from them every day." Given the history of his administration, the second part of that statement would seem like a pretty bald-faced lie, but it would have at least shown that he is aware that admitting and learning from mistakes is a good thing.
You may call it conviction. I find it his least admirable trait.

The exchange below cuts right to the heart of the problem with our current administration.
QUESTION: Thank you, Mr. President. You mentioned the PDB and the assurance you got that the FBI was working on terrorism investigations here. The number they had used was 70.
But we learned today in the September 11th hearings that the acting director of the FBI at the time now says the FBI tells him that number was wrong, that he doesn't even know how it got into your PDB. And two of the commissioners strongly suggested the number was exaggerated.
Have you learned anything else about that report since that time? And do you now believe you were falsely comforted by the FBI?
BUSH: No, I heard about that today, obviously, and my response to that was, I expect to get valid information. As the ultimate decision maker for this country, I expect information that comes to my desk to be real and valid.
George the Younger is being fed a steady diet of bullshit by the more experienced neo-conservatives that surround him. They are leading him and therefore leading us down the black hole of perpetual war.
When asked how long our military would stay in Iraq his answer was "not a day longer than necessary".
What does that mean?
Our guys and gals are there and they will not come home in my lifetime (statistically I probably have about 35 years left)
